Mrs. Carolanne Ryle » Welcome to the Holy Infant Library

Welcome to the Holy Infant Library

My name is Mrs. Ryle and I have been the Holy Infant Librarian for eight years.  Way back when, I was a Holy Infant student all through grade school.  My first teaching job was at St. Blaise School.  I was also a Stay at Home Mom for my two sons.  This year they will both be in college-MIZ-time flies!  The 2024-25 school year will be my ninth year as the Holy Infant Librarian. Prior to accepting the Librarian position, I was a substitute teacher here at Holy Infant for five years.

I have always loved to read, and I know many, many students do too.  My job as Librarian is to help all students find a book they will enjoy reading.

There is no such thing as a child who hates to read;  there are only children who have not found the right book.-Frank Serafini

Library Guidelines

Check out: Students in Grades 3-8 may check out two books for two weeks. If a book is for a school project, the teacher or librarian will give permission to have a third book checked out.   Students in Grade 2 may check out two books for one week.   Grade 1 will check out one book for one week, but the book will remain in the homeroom for that week.  Preschool, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten will enjoy reading and listening to our Library books in the Library.

Overdue Items:  Students may only have two books checked out at a time.  Overdue items must be returned or renewed to check out new books.

Lost Books:  If a student loses or damages a Library book beyond repair, the book must be paid for to allow for a replacement copy to be purchased.

Library Classes:  Every class in the school has a scheduled time for Library! Books  enrich our lives, and our goal as Librarians is to help students enjoy reading and be successful in all aspects of their schooling!  There are also times scheduled for Open CheckOut throughout the week.

MASL Award Nominees:  MASL (Missouri Association of School Librarians) nominates books each year that they feel are important for students to read. Holy Infant participates in the voting process to determine which books receive the Show Me, Mark Twain, and Truman Awards. Show Me books are for students in Grades 1-3 and all books are read to those classes in the Library. Grades 4-6 participate in the Mark Twain program. Any student who reads and passes the AR test on at least four of the ten nominees is eligible to vote for a favorite and will receive a Pizza Party reward.  Any student who reads and passes the AR test on at least four of the ten nominees is eligible to vote for a favorite and will also receive a Pizza Lunch.
